CARAMELIZED ONION DIP

From the Saint Peter Food Coop
Serves 6-8

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon butter
1 yellow onion
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 pound Neufchatel or cream cheese
2/3 cup sour cream
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Pinch of cayenne
Pinch of white pepper

Place olive oil and butter in a hot fry pan. Add onions and brown sugar. Cook over high heat until the onions are nice and brown. Stir often to ensure the onions don’t burn.
Cool caramelized onions and mix remaining ingredients together.
